The GhostBird pepper is a cross of a Chocolate Bhut Jolokia with a Jamaican Bird Pepper. It has a very high heat, approaching super-hot levels. I originally created it because Ghost peppers didn't do very well for me in south Florida, while Caribbean peppers like Jamaican Bird peppers would live for years and produce like crazy. I wanted a pepper that was very hot and fruity, but would be more productive in South Florida. The Original cross was done in 2015 or 2016, and I have grown it ever since, with individual plants living and producing for multiple years here.
There are currently 5 different colors I am developing, Red, Red-Brown, Brown, Yellow and Gold. Some will not be released until they have been stabilized. All of these colors are currently in F5/F6 and are unstable in color and form.

Some of my other crosses are Aji Sunrise, a cross of a Brazilian Starfish with Aji Pineapple and Aji Lolo which is a Cross between another C. baccatum and a C. chinense. In 2012-2016 I made over 20 different successful crosses, many did not produce desirable traits and were discarded, or were used to create other crosses.

My hybrid pepper seeds are available directly through my Etsy siteAll of my stock plants are open pollinated now so you may get some seedling variation or cross pollinated offspring. Consider these a positive benefit as out-crossing often produces new unique plants and plants with hybrid vigor.

My name is Chris, and I have been a professional horticulturist for almost four decades in many roles, including as a landscaper-designer, nurseryman, groundskeeper, and currently as a botanical garden Horticulture Director. Growing peppers has been one of my favorite hobbies since a 2009 trip to St. Augustine introduced me to the Datil Pepper.
